Staff in the Department of General Practice at Queen’s University Belfast are involved in the delivery of the curriculum from 1st to 5th Year. The Department supports and delivers a Family Attachment programme for 1st years in which students are attached to a family and a GP tutor for a full year.

A 4 week GP attachment is delivered in 4th year introducing the students to the speciality of General Practice oversees some direct teaching and GP placements throughout Northern Ireland. In final year there are a small number of speciality GP placements and a recently introduced novel scheme which takes place after finals but before foundation in which students spend 1 week of a 9 week Assistant-ship on the other side of the hospital/home interface learning about transitions of care and the patient journey across the interface.

A number of MPhil and PhD students on Educational Research programmes are support from the Department.
